General Use
- Connecting to a server, registering/changing nickname, joining a channel, private messages, channel list
.:Connecting to a server:.
One of the first things you need to know about IRC, is how to connect to a server. ![]()
When you first start mIRC you will see the following window. This is called the Connect window and allows you to connect to IRC. Here you have to enter something for your Full Name and Email Address. You do not have to enter your real full name and email address. You then have to choose your Nickname and Alternative nickname. These are the names by which other people will know you on IRC.You can then click the Connect button and mIRC will connect to your chosen server.
-mIRC.com
Now, to choose the server you want to connect to, click the "Servers" tab. You can then select one and then press the connect button, or you can add one and then connect.
You can also connect by typing /server servernamehere and that may work… For example:
Say I wanted to connect to the Rizon IRC server. I could go into those menus and add it (IRC.Rizon.net), or I could just type /server Rizon
NOTE: Rizon is actually already preset with mIRC.
.:Registering Nickname:.
Ok, when you connect, you may see messages telling you to register your nickname. Registering your nickname makes it so that only you can use it. Unless otherwise instructed, you may so this my typing /ns register youremail passwordyouwant
Example:
Say I want to register my nickname with the password omnamo. This is what I would type: /ns register admin@omnamo.com omnamo
Also, if you want to quickly change your nickname, type: /nick newnicknamehere
.:Joining a Channel (& Channel list):.
Now that you have a nickname, and are in a server, you need to join a channel to begin communicating with other users. Basically, a channel is a room. You can ONLY communicate in one of these.
- To see a list of all the channels in a server, type /list. Please note that this is different than !list, which we will be using later on.
- After entering the /list command, you should see a window popup, with a list of different channels. Double click one to join it. Doing this should open up another window. This is that channel’s window, where you can communicate with others.
- Alternatively, in any window, you can type: /join #channelname. But wait, there’s more. There is actually a shorter form of this. You can also type: /j #channelname
.:Private Messages:.
In the Channel Window, on the left hand side, you will see a long vertical box with its own scrollbar. This is the list of all the users in the channel. Double clicking on a name will open up another box (its called a query box) where you can chat. You can also send private messages without opening a query by using the command:
/msg namehere message
Example: If I want to send a message to Bob telling him what I baked I would type…
/msg bob I baked you up some nubcakes

Зер гуд ставлю 5 балов.
Думается, если долго стараться, даже самую сложную мысль можно так подробно раскрыть.
Интересно даже для бухгалтера :)))))
